Weekend Family Fun Guide North of Toronto for February 28 - March 2

Wow, it's March! Like an Olympic sport, we're in the final stretch of winter, now is the time to dig deep and give it all you've got! Embrace it, love it - get into winter recreation like never before! Take advantage of longer days and sunshine full of vitamin D. You'll definitely see the difference in your kids, outdoor fresh air activities are a parents' best friend.


Winter Carnivals are winding down, so if you have not taken the family for some winter festival fun, this is the weekend. Parades, mid-ways, tobaggon races and other classic carnival fun are all great ways to spend the weekend entertaining kids. Skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, snow tubing are also still going strong with great deals on rates and passes.

This weekend marks the start of delicious maple season in many areas north of Toronto! Starting March 1st is the Tap into Maple Tour in Ontario's Lake Country! Filled with a variety of different stops throughout the region, the Tap into Maple route will get your senses flowing and your mouth watering. The 2014 Season of Winter Carnival Celebrations has begun! If you're Canadian or visiting Canada, come see how much there is to celebrate about winter with activities like dog sledding, tobaggoning, skating, snow mobiling and so many many classic and new activities that make winter fun.

ONTARIO WINTER GAMES
The Ontario Games Program includes 5 multi-sport Games that provide athletes of all ages, from all regions of Ontario the chance to compete against their fellow provincial athletes. The Ontario Games Program gives participants, communities, volunteers and everyone a chance to celebrate sport in Ontario. The host community is Bracebridge, however events will be taking place in Huntsville, Gravenhurst, Muskoka Lakes, Lake of Bays, Orillia and Midland.

SNOW VALLEY RESORT

Hardwood is a full service nordic ski centre providing trails for all levels of  skiers or snowshoers. They are open seven days a week and offer rentals, retail nordic ski, lessons, cafe and children's programs.

SCENIC CAVES NORDIC CENTRE
Winter activities include groomed cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and traversing 420 feet over Southern Ontario’s longest suspension bridge. See natural Ontario forrest as a beautiful winter wonderland!

* SATURDAY * Night Guided Snowshoe
No experience is required and the pace is moderate. Night hikes are recommended for ages 8-10 and older.

SKIING & ATTRACTION PARK BLUE MOUNTAIN RESORT
